End of the year is tough, students are tired and so are teachers! We don’t want to plan anymore, we have no more ideas but we still have to be in class with kids who want no more work!!! I used to go mad looking for fun end of the year games or activities for the last days of school!
That is why, throughout the last 8 years, I have been building my “Fun End-of-the-Year Games and Activities Bundle” from where I now take (and add or improve) ideas every year. I have found that my pupils enjoy these games and activities and they really reflect on their work, their achievements and their weaknesses.
All these end of the year activities require little to no preparation, they are ready to use or play! Take a peep at the list below to see if you can use them in YOUR class! Hope you enjoy them!
- ABC game: Have students write a word they have learnt during this school year for each letter of the alphabet. This game can be played individually, in pairs or in groups! The teacher can also assign categories for students to focus on. For example, they can write adjectives for each letter, countries, words related to science, etc.
- Song/Poem creation: Students should create a song or poem summarizing the year
- Magazine creation: In groups, students can design and make different pages to build a magazine as a class.
- Memes: Have students create funny memes referring to their year at school!
- Summarizing in hashtags: Have students create hashtags to summarize their year at school.
- Summarizing in songs: Have students create a playlist with song titles to summarize their year at school.
- Summarizing in emojis: Have students look for emojis to summarize their year at school.
8. End-of-the-year One Pager: Have students reflect on their year at school and create an attractive one-pager.
9. End of the year reflective game: Draw a line on the floor (chalk or masking tape). Read different prompts and students should stand on the line if…
10. Mural: Have students create a mural illustrating what they have learned, experienced, done during the year. The mural could be used as a “welcome poster” for the coming students.
I hope you have found useful games and activities in this post! If you are looking for vocabulary games for this or any time of the year, check this post with amazing ideas!
